Schladming Nightrace 2027: Dates, Tickets and Getting There

The Nightrace on the Planai in Schladming on 26 and 27 January 2027: night giant slalom and slalom, tickets, where to stay and transfers from Salzburg or Graz.

The Nightrace 2027: what and when

The Nightrace is the men's FIS Alpine World Cup night race on the Planai slope in Schladming, Austria. In 2027 it takes place over two evenings: a night giant slalom on Tuesday 26 January and the night slalom on Wednesday 27 January 2027, both under floodlights with the finish area at the edge of town.

The Nightrace is known for its atmosphere: tens of thousands of spectators, music, flags and a finish stadium that is packed long before the first run. Both races have two runs in the evening. The exact start times are published by the organiser in the official programme closer to the date, so check them before you plan your day.

Tickets and planning

Tickets are sold through the organiser's official ticket shop. There are usually standing tickets for the finish area and a limited number of grandstand and hospitality options, which sell out first. Buy early, buy only through official channels, and decide whether you want one evening or both.

Arrive in the finish area well before the first run if you want a good view. You will stand outdoors for several hours at night in January, so dress for temperatures well below freezing: thermal layers, insulated boots, a warm hat and gloves. Many spectators ski on the Planai during the day and walk down to the race in the evening.

Where to stay

Schladming town
Closest to the finish area and the Planai lifts, with hotels, apartments and restaurants within walking distance. Rooms for race week are often booked many months ahead.
Rohrmoos and Ramsau
Above and around Schladming, with many guesthouses and chalets. You will need transport into town on race evening.
Haus im Ennstal and Gröbming
Along the Enns valley to the east, with more availability. Good if you combine the race with a ski week in the Schladming-Dachstein region.
Radstadt and Flachau side
To the west, towards Salzburg. Practical if you arrive via Salzburg and want a shorter airport run home.

Getting there from Salzburg or Graz

The two closest airports are Salzburg Airport (SZG), about 1 hour 15 minutes away via the Tauern motorway and the Enns valley, and Graz Airport (GRZ), about 2 hours away. Both drives use well-maintained roads, but in late January snow and winter conditions are normal; winter tyres are required in wintry conditions and drivers carry chains where needed.

A private transfer with HotelTaxi is a calm way to arrive with ski bags, after an evening flight, or as a group sharing a minivan. Declare skis and boot bags when booking so the right vehicle is sent. The driver meets you in arrivals and takes you to your accommodation, as close as access rules allow on race days.
