Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2026: Where to Stay and How to Get to Yas
The F1 season finale runs 4–6 December 2026 at Yas Marina Circuit. Where to stay, how to reach the track, the weather, and transfer times from AUH and DXB.
When is the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2026?
The Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2026 takes place from 4 to 6 December at Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island, with the race itself on Sunday 6 December. As in recent years, it closes the season, so the championship can still be decided under the floodlights of Yas.
Friday brings practice, Saturday qualifying and Sunday the Grand Prix, with concerts and fan events usually running alongside. The organiser publishes session times and the full programme; check them again in the week before you travel.
Where should you stay: Yas Island, Saadiyat, the city or Dubai?
Yas Island puts you closest to the circuit, with several hotels within walking distance or a short shuttle ride, and one directly above the track. It is the easiest base for all three days, but it fills first and rates rise sharply for race week.
Saadiyat Island is quieter, with long calm beaches and the Louvre Abu Dhabi, and Yas is a short drive away when the roads are clear.
Abu Dhabi city and the Corniche offer a wider choice of hotels, restaurants and the waterfront promenade. The trip to the circuit is longer, especially on Sunday evening.
Staying in Dubai suits travellers combining the race with a longer holiday. Expect roughly an hour and a half to two hours to Yas, twice on each race day.
How do you get from AUH or DXB to your hotel?
Zayed International Airport (AUH) is the natural gateway, and Yas Island is only a short drive from the terminal. Saadiyat Island is 38 km away, usually 29–37 minutes, and the Abu Dhabi Corniche 36 km, around 31–39 minutes. If you land at AUH but stay in Dubai, Dubai Marina and JBR are 96 km away, typically 65–82 minutes.
Many visitors fly into Dubai International (DXB) instead. From there, Yas Island is 133 km, about 98–123 minutes, and central Abu Dhabi 158 km, usually 104–130 minutes, in normal traffic on the coastal highway.
HotelTaxi can arrange a private transfer from either airport with a local, professional transfer company, booked online or in a WhatsApp chat. The price is agreed before you book, and sharing your flight number lets the driver follow your arrival, which helps after a long night flight or when a family or group lands together.
How do you get to Yas Marina Circuit on race days?
On race weekend, traffic around Yas Island is heavy and some roads near the circuit are closed or restricted. Allow extra time every day, and noticeably more on Sunday, when everyone leaves at once after the chequered flag and the evening concerts.
The organiser normally runs shuttles and designated drop-off and pick-up areas, announced shortly before the event. With a private car, agree the exact drop-off point with your driver and set a return time with some slack.
What is the weather like, and what else is there to do?
Late November and early December are among the most comfortable weeks of the year in Abu Dhabi. Daytime highs are usually in the mid to upper 20s °C, the sun is strong, and evenings at the circuit can feel cool in a sea breeze. Light layers, a hat and sunscreen cover most needs.
Between sessions, Yas has theme parks, a large mall, a marina and a links golf course. On Saadiyat, the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the beaches are a calm counterpoint to the track. In the city, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is worth a morning; clothing covering arms and legs is required, and women need a headscarf.
