Ras Al Khaimah is the northernmost of the larger emirates and a quieter beach alternative to Dubai. Al Marjan Island is a group of man-made islands lined with all-inclusive and family resorts.

Which emirates do you pass on the way?

From DXB the car heads north-east out of Dubai and usually takes one of the inland motorways that bypass the coastal cities of Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain. The first part through Dubai and Sharjah is the busiest; after that the road opens up across flat desert.

The last stretch leaves the motorway for the coast at Al Hamra, south-west of Ras Al Khaimah city, and crosses a causeway onto Al Marjan Island.

What is Al Marjan Island like?

The island group was built out into the Gulf, and its beaches face the open sea on several sides. Hotels are large resorts with pools, kids' clubs and beach access, and many guests book all-inclusive packages, which is why the island draws families and couples looking for a quieter stay.

The resorts are spread over separate islands connected by short roads, so the hotel name tells the driver which part of the island to aim for.

Why book a private car for this route

An hour and a half with tired children or a pile of beach luggage is easier in a car booked for your group alone. Child seats and minivans are available on request, and the price you agree is the price you pay, even if traffic out of Dubai is heavy.

HotelTaxi works with a local transfer company for the ride, and you can book online or on WhatsApp.
