Where is Dubai Airport and which areas does it serve?
DXB sits on the eastern side of the city in Al Garhoud, close to Deira and Dubai Creek. That makes old Dubai the nearest hotel area, while the beach districts in the south-west, Dubai Marina, JBR and Palm Jumeirah, are on the far side of the city along Sheikh Zayed Road.
Because the United Arab Emirates are linked by fast motorways and there are no border controls between emirates, many travellers also land at DXB for a stay in Abu Dhabi or Ras Al Khaimah. A private car covers those longer distances door to door, which matters with children, golf bags or a late-night arrival.
Typical drive times from DXB

- 16 km, around 20–25 minutes. Heritage quarter, souks, Creek-side hotels and many mid-range stays.
- Dubai Marina & JBR
- 41 km, around 44–55 minutes along Sheikh Zayed Road. High-rise hotels, beach and promenade.
- Palm Jumeirah
- 43 km, around 44–55 minutes. Resorts on the crescent, apartments on the trunk and villas on the fronds.
- Ras Al Khaimah (Al Marjan Island)
- 75 km, around 80–100 minutes north through Sharjah. Beach resorts on a man-made island group.
- Abu Dhabi
- 158 km, around 104–130 minutes on the E11. The capital, Saadiyat and Yas islands.
How does the meeting at arrivals work?
Dubai has three passenger terminals, and the one you arrive at depends on the airline. Share your flight number when you book: the local provider follows the arrival time and agrees the exact meeting spot with you by phone or WhatsApp before you land or once you are through.
The driver waits in the arrivals area with a name sign. Passport control and baggage reclaim at DXB can take a while at busy times, so there is no need to rush; the pickup time follows your actual landing.
Which vehicle should you book?
A standard private car suits one to three passengers with normal luggage. Families with large suitcases, or groups of four to seven, are better off in a minivan, and larger vehicles can be requested for bigger groups.
Child seats can be added when booking. If you travel with golf clubs, diving gear or a bicycle box, declare them at booking so the provider sends a vehicle with enough space. Shopping trips also add up: travellers flying home often leave with more bags than they arrived with.
When is the best time to fly into Dubai?
The main season runs from October to April, when days are warm rather than fierce and evenings are pleasant outdoors. December and the New Year period, school holidays and the weeks around big events are the busiest times, and hotel rates and road traffic follow.
From June to September daytime temperatures are very high, and much of life moves indoors. A car waiting at the terminal is worth more in those months than at any other time. During Ramadan, whose dates move each year, traffic shifts noticeably in the hour before sunset.
Why travellers choose a private transfer here
Taxis are easy to find at DXB, but they suit short city hops better than a family arriving with four suitcases or a couple heading two hours down the coast. With a private transfer the vehicle size is fixed in advance, the price is agreed before the trip and does not change for traffic or a delayed flight, and nobody else is picked up on the way.
HotelTaxi does not run its own fleet. It works with local transfer companies that drive the DXB routes every day, and payment goes through HotelTaxi.
