Which way does the driver go to Marmaris?
The transfer heads west on the D400 through Ortaca and the farmland of the Dalaman plain, then follows the shore of Köyceğiz lake. After Köyceğiz the road climbs into pine forest and crosses the hills towards the Gulf of Gökova, before turning south on the Marmaris road and descending to the bay.
The hill sections are winding, and in summer you will often share them with lorries and coaches. Experienced local drivers keep a steady pace rather than a fast one.

- The castle quarter, the bazaar and the marina are at the eastern end of the bay. Some old-town lanes are pedestrian, so the drop-off is at the nearest road.
