Dalaman sits on the flat river plain between the Gulf of Fethiye and the Köyceğiz lake district. From here, the D400 coastal highway runs east towards Göcek, Fethiye and Kalkan and west towards Köyceğiz and Marmaris, so almost every beach and sailing resort in the region is within two and a quarter hours of the runway.

Arriving at Dalaman Airport
Dalaman has two separate buildings: a larger international terminal used by most holiday and charter flights, and a smaller domestic terminal for flights from Istanbul, Ankara and other Turkish cities. They are not connected airside, so please share your flight number when booking.
Your driver waits in the arrivals area with a name sign. The exact meeting spot outside passport control and baggage reclaim is confirmed directly by the local transfer company by phone or WhatsApp. In high summer, passport queues can be long; the agreed price does not change if you are delayed.
Where Dalaman Airport transfers go
- Sarıgerme and Göcek (about 20–35 minutes)
- Sarıgerme is a long sandy beach with large all-inclusive resorts just west of the airport. Göcek is a small yachting town at the head of a bay full of islands, the main base for gulet and bareboat charters on this coast.
- Fethiye and Ölüdeniz (about 50–85 minutes)
- Fethiye is a working harbour town with a marina, old quarter and the Çalış beach strip. Ölüdeniz lies beyond the hills south of Fethiye, with its lagoon, pebble beach and paragliding from Babadağ, and the busier villages of Hisarönü and Ovacık on the way.
- Marmaris and İçmeler (about 1.5–2 hours)
- Heading west, the road passes Köyceğiz lake and crosses forested hills to Marmaris bay. Marmaris is the larger, livelier town with a big marina; İçmeler is the quieter resort a few kilometres further around the bay.
- Kalkan (about 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes)
- Kalkan belongs to Antalya province but is closer by road to Dalaman than to Antalya Airport. It is a hillside harbour town known for villas with private pools and terrace restaurants.
The roads around Dalaman
Almost every transfer starts on the short road from the airport to the D400. Eastbound journeys pass through the Göcek Tunnel, which cuts out the old mountain road over the Göcek pass; it is a toll section, and the toll is part of the agreed transfer price. Beyond Fethiye the D400 heads inland through the Eşen valley before dropping back to the coast near Kalkan.
Westbound, the road runs through the farmland of Ortaca, skirts Köyceğiz lake and climbs through pine forest above the Gulf of Gökova before descending to Marmaris. Bends and slow lorries make drive times longer than the distance suggests.
Choosing the right vehicle

- Larger vehicles and equipment

Season and timing
The main season runs from May to October, with the busiest weeks in July and August and around Turkish public holidays. Many charter flights arrive on weekends, which is also the usual changeover day for gulets and yacht charters in Göcek and Marmaris.
