Most travellers heading here are on their way to La Graciosa. The transfer ends at the harbour in Órzola; ferry tickets to the island are bought separately from the ferry company.

Driving north to the top of Lanzarote

This is the longest common transfer from the airport. The driver heads round Arrecife and joins the LZ-1, the road that runs up the north-east side of the island through Tahíche, Guatiza and Mala. Around Guatiza you pass fields of prickly-pear cactus, once grown to farm cochineal.

Beyond Arrieta the land changes to the rough black lava of the Malpaís de la Corona, formed by the Monte Corona volcano. This is the area of the Jameos del Agua and Cueva de los Verdes lava caves. The road then drops to the sea at Órzola, a small fishing village at the end of the road.

Getting from the airport to La Graciosa

The ferry
Ferries cross from Órzola to Caleta de Sebo, the main village on La Graciosa, in roughly half an hour. Several sailings run each day, with fewer in the evening.
Tickets
Ferry tickets are not part of the transfer. Buy them from the ferry company, either in advance or at the harbour, and check the time of the last sailing for your arrival day.
No cars on the island
La Graciosa has sand streets and almost no motor traffic. Your private ride ends at the port, and you walk your luggage onto the boat.

Luggage and timing for an island hop

Because the streets on La Graciosa are sand, wheeled suitcases are hard work. A soft bag or backpack is easier, and a light load helps on the ferry ramp too. If you bring a bike, kayak or fishing gear, declare it when booking so a suitable vehicle is sent.

If your flight lands late in the evening, compare its arrival time with the last ferry before you plan the day. You can also book the transfer to a hotel or apartment elsewhere on Lanzarote and continue to Órzola the next morning.

Frequently asked questions

Does the transfer include the ferry to La Graciosa?

No. The private transfer takes you to Órzola harbour. Ferry tickets are sold separately by the ferry company.

How much does a transfer from Lanzarote Airport to Órzola cost?

As an indication, around €55–75 for a car with up to three passengers and €75–100 for a minivan for up to about seven. The exact price is shown before booking and stays fixed.

How long is the drive to Órzola?

The distance is 44 km and the drive typically takes 42–53 minutes along the LZ-1 on the north-east side of the island.

What if my flight is delayed and I miss the last ferry?

The driver follows your flight number, so the transfer still goes ahead at the agreed price. If the last sailing has already left, you can change the destination to accommodation on Lanzarote when you contact the provider, and the new price is confirmed with you first.

Can I stay in Órzola itself?

Yes, there are some holiday apartments and houses in and around the village. Give the full address when booking and the driver takes you to the door instead of the harbour.
