Lindos is one of the most visited places on Rhodes, a white village below an ancient acropolis, and getting there smoothly mostly comes down to knowing where cars have to stop.

How long is the drive from Rhodes Airport to Lindos?

The car first crosses the island from the airport to the east coast and then heads south on the main east coast road. You pass the turn-offs for Faliraki, Afandou and Kolymbia, then Archangelos and the long beach at Tsambika, before the landscape opens up and Lindos appears with its fortress on the rock.

In July and August the road is busy with coaches and hire cars heading for the village, so the upper end of the time range is realistic at midday.

Cars stop at the edge of the village

The old core of Lindos is pedestrian-only. Its lanes are narrow, steep and paved with pebble mosaics, and vehicles stop at the edge of the village. From there you walk, sometimes several minutes uphill or downhill, to your house or studio.

If you are staying inside the village, pack in a bag you can carry and ask your host where to meet. Some hosts send someone to help with luggage, but this is arranged with them directly.

Staying in and around Lindos

Inside the village
Traditional captain's houses and small studios, reached on foot only. Atmospheric but best with light luggage.
Lindos Bay and St Paul's Bay
Beaches right below the village. Some accommodation is reachable closer by car, depending on the exact address.
Vlycha and the hillside
Hotels and villas a little north of the village with road access to the door, a short drive from the centre.

Timing your arrival

The acropolis and the village fill with day visitors from late morning to afternoon. If you land around midday, expect a slower final stretch and a busy drop-off area. Evening arrivals are quieter, though the walk through the lanes in the dark is easier with a phone torch.

Frequently asked questions

Can the driver take me to my house in Lindos village?

No car can enter the pedestrian core. The driver stops at the edge of the village and you walk the last part through the lanes.

How much is a taxi transfer from Rhodes Airport to Lindos?

A private car typically costs around €70–85 and a minivan €90–110. The exact price is shown before you confirm.

Which road does the transfer to Lindos use?

It crosses to the east coast and then follows the main east coast road south past Kolymbia and Archangelos. It is a normal two-way road, without tolls.

Is Lindos suitable for families with buggies?

The village lanes are steep and stepped in places, so buggies are hard work there. Families often prefer hotels on the bays or hillside with car access.

Can I stop at Tsambika or a viewpoint on the way?

Mention it when you book. A short stop can often be arranged with the provider, which may affect the price.
