Where Cavelossim and Mobor are
Cavelossim and Mobor lie at the southern tip of the long Salcete beach. The land here narrows into a strip between the sea and the Sal river, with Mobor at the very end where the river meets the sea.
This is one of Goa's main resort areas. Large hotels with gardens, pools and private beach access are spread along the strip, alongside smaller guesthouses and restaurants on the river side.
Because the hotels are spread over several kilometres, give the exact resort name when booking. The price and drive time differ slightly between the northern end of Cavelossim and the tip at Mobor.
The drive south through Salcete
The route runs south from the airport into Salcete, passing the Margao area, then continues on the coastal-side road through Varca and Fatrade towards Cavelossim. The road is two-lane and passes villages, churches and paddy fields.
The last section along the peninsula is quiet, and many resorts have gated entrances with security checks, where the driver drops you at reception. Share your flight number: on a late-night arrival the driver still works to your actual landing time.
