Transfers from this airport
Arriving at Kraków Airport for the Tatras
Kraków Airport is in Balice, west of the city. Mountain transfers use the ring road around Kraków and then head south, so you do not drive through the old town. From December to March many arrivals are skiers from the UK, Ireland, Germany, Israel, Sweden and Norway.
A local transfer company meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign. The exact meeting point is agreed with you by phone or WhatsApp before you land. Share your flight number when booking so the driver can follow any delay.
Zakopane or Białka Tatrzańska
- Zakopane
- About 114 km and typically 88–110 minutes. Poland’s best-known mountain town, with the Krupówki pedestrian street and the Kasprowy Wierch cable car. A car usually costs around €95–120, a minivan around €130–170.
- Białka Tatrzańska
- About 108 km and typically 83–104 minutes. A village with linked family ski slopes and thermal pools, east of Zakopane. A car usually costs around €95–120, a minivan around €130–170.
The road south: the Zakopianka
Both transfers use the main road from Kraków towards the Tatras, known locally as the Zakopianka. It is an expressway for much of the way south past Myślenice, then continues to Nowy Targ, where the routes to Zakopane and Białka split.
This road is famous for weekend traffic. On Friday afternoons and Saturdays in the ski season, queues build towards the mountains, and on Sunday afternoons the same happens in the other direction. Outside those times the drive is usually close to the typical times shown here.
Winter conditions and vehicle choice
The final part of each route runs through hill country that can be snowy from December to March. Local providers drive it every day of the season and use winter tyres, with snow chains carried when conditions require them. The price is agreed in advance and does not change if snow or traffic slows the journey.
Declare ski and snowboard bags when booking. Two skiers with equipment usually fit a car; a family of four with suitcases and skis is more comfortable in a minivan. Child seats can be requested, and larger groups can ask for a bigger vehicle.
Planning the return to Kraków Airport
From Zakopane or Białka Tatrzańska, book your pickup about 4 hours before your flight departs. On Sundays, during holiday weeks or when snow is forecast, allow 4.5 hours, as traffic leaving the mountains builds through the afternoon.
Frequently asked questions
How long is the transfer from Kraków Airport to Zakopane?
Zakopane is about 114 km from Kraków Airport, typically 88–110 minutes by car. Weekend traffic on the Zakopianka and snow can make it longer. A private car usually costs around €95–120.
Is Białka Tatrzańska a good choice for families?
Many families choose Białka for its linked beginner-friendly slopes and its thermal pools for non-skiing time. The transfer is about 108 km and typically 83–104 minutes from Kraków Airport.
Can I bring skis and snowboards?
Yes. Declare the number of equipment bags when booking so the right vehicle is sent. Groups with skis often need a minivan even when the passenger count would fit a car.

Do you offer transfers from Kraków Airport to Kraków city centre?
No. HotelTaxi does not offer rides within Kraków. The transfers on this page go from the airport to the Tatra ski resorts.
Which day is best to travel to the Tatras?
Midweek arrivals usually have the quietest roads. Friday afternoons and Saturdays heading south, and Sunday afternoons heading north, tend to be the busiest.
