Natai is on the mainland in Phang Nga province, just north of the bridges from Phuket. It is a quiet beach with private villas and a small number of upscale resorts, far from the busy resort towns.
A short drive north, off the island
Unlike most Phuket transfers, this one heads north. From the airport it is a quick run to the bridges at Tha Chatchai, then into Phang Nga on the main highway and west on local roads to the coast at Khok Kloi.
There are no steep hill roads and little resort traffic, which is why 28 km takes about half an hour. It is one of the most predictable transfer times from Phuket Airport.
What Natai is like
Natai is a long, quiet stretch of sand with casuarina trees and very little commercial development. Most accommodation is in private villas and low-rise resorts set on large plots, often behind gates.
Guests usually come for privacy and rest: honeymooners, families renting a villa together and travellers who want a calm end to a trip. Restaurants and shops are limited, so many guests arrange extra trips by car.
Planning around your stay
- Return to the airport
- Allow up to 33 minutes on the road and three hours at the airport for an international flight: a pickup about three and a half hours before departure is enough.
- Groups in large villas
- Villas here often host bigger parties. Book a minivan for up to about seven guests, or ask for larger vehicles.
- Season
- November to April brings the calmest sea. In the monsoon months the beach can have strong waves and swimming may not be safe.
