Istanbul Airport transfer

The M11 links Istanbul Airport with Gayrettepe, where you can change to the M2. This is useful when your destination is near the rail network and you want to avoid road traffic. Include the walk to the airport station, interchange time and the final walk to your accommodation when comparing it with a car. The official rail network map helps you identify connections.

Havaist offers airport coaches to city stops. Check the operator’s stop map, current departures and the distance from the stop to your hotel. A stop named for a district is not a hotel drop-off. For a late arrival, verify the timetable for every stage rather than assuming that a connecting metro or tram runs all night.

For Taksim, compare the M11–M2 connection with an airport coach or a car to your accommodation. Ask your hotel about the walk from the station if you have heavy luggage or limited mobility.

For Sultanahmet and the historic peninsula, identify the last connection and the hotel entrance before choosing transport. Do not treat Gayrettepe as a station beside the Old City. Ask the hotel whether its street is accessible to vehicles and, if not, where the nearest practical drop-off is.

For Kadıköy, Üsküdar or another Asian-side address, plan a cross-city journey. A general city-centre estimate is not a reliable time for your destination. Compare the full public-transport itinerary with a route-specific road estimate and leave additional flexibility when catching a flight.

Use the airport’s signed taxi facilities for an on-arrival taxi. Confirm the charging basis and how tolls, luggage or other extras are handled before starting. For a reserved pickup, obtain the exact meeting instructions and supplier contact before departure. A generic door number is not a substitute for the arrangement on your booking.

Provide your flight number, local arrival date, passenger count and precise hotel address. Allow time for arrival formalities, baggage and walking through the terminal. If delayed, contact the supplier and check when included waiting begins. Do not assume unlimited waiting or a greeting inside the hall unless confirmed.

If the next flight departs from SAW, this is an airport change across the city, not a terminal transfer at IST. Check whether you must collect and recheck baggage, allow for entry and security procedures, and ask the airline about the connection. A car reservation does not guarantee that a short self-transfer is feasible.
