Fuerteventura is long and narrow, so transfer times vary a lot: from about ten minutes to the nearest resort to well over an hour to the southern tip of the Jandía peninsula.

Arriving at Fuerteventura Airport

Fuerteventura Airport lies on the east coast, just south of the island's capital, Puerto del Rosario. It sits roughly in the middle of the island's length, which is why some resorts are a short hop away and others need a proper drive along the main north–south road.

After baggage reclaim (and passport control, where it applies to your flight) you walk out into the arrivals hall, where your driver waits with a name sign. The local provider confirms the exact meeting point with you by phone or WhatsApp before or on arrival, so keep your phone switched on when you land.

Add your flight number when you book so the driver can follow your real landing time.

Drive times from Fuerteventura Airport to the main resorts

Caleta de Fuste
7 km, typically 9–12 minutes. The closest resort to the terminal, built around a sheltered sandy bay and a small marina, with golf courses nearby. Usually around €20–30 by car.
Corralejo
36 km, typically 31–39 minutes north, the last stretch through the Corralejo dunes natural park. A lively harbour town known for surfing and the boat trips to Lobos island. Usually around €50–65 by car.
Costa Calma
65 km, typically 55–69 minutes south, where the Jandía peninsula begins. Close to the Sotavento beaches and lagoon, a well-known spot for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Usually around €75–95 by car.
Morro Jable
84 km, typically 69–87 minutes to the far south of the island. Long beaches, a lighthouse on the promenade and a harbour with ferries to other islands. Usually around €95–120 by car.

North or south: how the island is laid out

Two main roads leave the airport area. Heading north, the route passes Puerto del Rosario and runs up the east coast to Corralejo, opposite Lanzarote. Heading south, the FV-2 crosses dry volcanic plains and passes small coastal villages on its way to Costa Calma and the Jandía peninsula.

Both directions are mostly open roads with little traffic. If you are staying in the far south, keep the long drive in mind when choosing a late-evening flight.

Choosing the right vehicle

Car (1–3 passengers)
Suitable for couples and small families with normal luggage. Prices on this page refer to a car unless stated otherwise.
Minivan (up to about 7)
The usual choice for larger families, friends travelling together, or anyone with bulky bags. Larger vehicles can be requested for groups.
Surf, kite and golf equipment
Declare surfboards, kite or windsurf gear, golf bags or bicycles when booking so a vehicle with enough space is sent. Board bags rarely fit in a standard car boot.
Child seats
Can be requested when booking. Mention each child’s age so the right seat is fitted.

When people travel to Fuerteventura

The main season for many visitors runs from October to April, when the island offers mild winter sun. Christmas, New Year and school holidays are the busiest arrival periods, so book your transfer early then.

Fuerteventura is also known for wind and waves. Winter swells draw surfers to the north coast around Corralejo, while the trade winds make the south a base for kitesurfing and windsurfing.
