Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) → Canggu transfer

The route runs north through Kuta and along the busy roads behind Seminyak and Kerobokan, the most congested corridor on the island. Scooters, delivery traffic and construction keep speeds low for most of the day.

Once you reach Canggu, roads become narrower still, and the lanes between the beaches can back up badly in the late afternoon when people head to the coast for sunset.

Declare your board bag when booking and give its length. Long boards and multiple bags often need a minivan rather than a car. A minivan for up to about seven passengers usually costs around €30–42, compared with about €18–26 for a car.

This also applies to families with prams and long-stay visitors with several large suitcases. Child seats can be requested when booking; give the ages of the children so the right seats come with the vehicle.

Plan for around 80 minutes on the road, more if you leave between late afternoon and evening, when the lanes out of Canggu and the roads through Kerobokan fill up. Being at the airport three hours before an international flight means leaving Canggu about four and a half hours before departure.
