Marsa Alam International Airport transfer

This page explains how a private transfer from Marsa Alam International Airport (RMF) works and what the drive looks like to Port Ghalib, the resorts around Marsa Alam and El Quseir. HotelTaxi books your ride with a local transfer company that knows the airport, and the total price is shown and agreed before you travel.

RMF lies on the southern Red Sea coast, far from any large city. Most hotels are spread along a long coast road, so the transfer is a real part of the trip: from about half an hour to well over an hour, depending on where you stay.

Transfers from this airport

Arriving at Marsa Alam Airport

RMF is a compact airport that mainly handles holiday flights from Europe during the season. After passport and visa formalities and baggage reclaim you walk out into the arrivals area, where your driver waits with a name sign.

Please add your flight number when you book. The local provider can then follow the actual landing time, and the agreed price stays the same if your flight is late. Exact meeting details are confirmed by the provider directly with you by phone or WhatsApp before or on arrival.

The ride is private: no shared shuttle, no stops at other hotels on the way.

Popular transfers from RMF

Port Ghalib
13 km, typically 29–37 minutes. A purpose-built marina resort close to the airport, with hotels, a promenade and the berths of many dive safari boats.
Marsa Alam resorts
73 km to Marsa Alam town, typically 71–89 minutes. Resort hotels are spread along the coast north and south of the town, so the real time depends on your hotel.
El Quseir
80 km, typically 72–90 minutes. A historic port town north of the airport with an Ottoman-era fortress and quiet resort hotels along the shore nearby.

Why transfer times vary so much on this coast

Southern Egypt’s Red Sea coast is not one resort town but a long line of individual hotels, each usually with its own beach and house reef. Between them there is open desert, with the mountains of the Eastern Desert inland and the sea on the other side.

Almost every transfer uses the main coast road, which runs north towards El Quseir and south past Marsa Alam town. Traffic is light, but the distances are long, and police checkpoints are a normal part of driving in Egypt, so keep your passport within reach.

The resorts furthest south, towards Wadi el Gemal National Park and beyond, are considerably further away than Marsa Alam town itself. Always book with your exact hotel name so the price and timing match your real destination.

Choosing the right vehicle

Private car
For 1–3 passengers with normal suitcases. A comfortable choice for couples and small families on the longer coast drives.
Minivan
For up to about 7 passengers, or for fewer people travelling with dive bags, fins and camera cases. Often the better choice for families with plenty of luggage.
Larger vehicles and extras
Bigger groups can request a larger vehicle. Child seats can be requested when booking, and sports equipment such as diving gear or kitesurf bags must be declared so the right vehicle is sent.

Season and what brings travellers to Marsa Alam

The main travel season runs from October to April, when days are warm and sunny and evenings can feel cool, especially with a breeze off the sea. Summer is very hot, and flight schedules and hotel occupancy change through the year.

Most visitors come for the sea. Marsa Alam is known for diving and snorkelling on coral reefs that start right off the beach, for sea turtles in sheltered bays such as Abu Dabbab, and for offshore reefs reached by boat. Many dive safaris start from the marina at Port Ghalib.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Marsa Alam Airport from the hotels?

It depends strongly on the hotel. Port Ghalib is 13 km away (29–37 minutes), Marsa Alam town 73 km (71–89 minutes) and El Quseir 80 km (72–90 minutes). Resorts far south of Marsa Alam take longer.

What does a private transfer from RMF usually cost?

As an indication, a car to Port Ghalib is usually around €15–25, and a car to Marsa Alam town or El Quseir around €40–60. Minivans cost more. The exact price for your hotel and vehicle is shown before booking.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

Add your flight number when booking so the provider can follow your landing time. The agreed price does not change because of a delay or because of traffic.

Can I bring my diving equipment?

Yes. Declare dive bags, fins, wetsuits and camera cases when booking. With a lot of equipment, a minivan is often the more comfortable option even for two people.

Is the transfer shared with other passengers?

No. Every HotelTaxi transfer is private, so the car goes directly from the airport to your hotel without stops at other hotels.
