Transfers from this airport
Where is Milas-Bodrum Airport?
BJV is not on the Bodrum Peninsula itself but inland on the plain near Milas, roughly 16 km from Milas town and about 36 km by road from the centre of Bodrum. Every peninsula transfer therefore starts with the same stretch of main road south-west towards Güvercinlik, where the road reaches the sea at the eastern neck of the peninsula.
The airport has separate international and domestic terminals. Flights from the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and Russia use the international terminal, and flights from Istanbul and Ankara the domestic one. Tell us which flight you are on so the driver is at the right building.
Areas served from BJV and typical drive times
- Bodrum Town (37 km, about 38–48 min)
- The castle, the marina, the old town lanes and the nightlife strip on the eastern bay. Closest of the main resort areas to the airport.
- Bitez (42 km, about 44–55 min)
- A sheltered sandy bay just west of Gümbet, popular with families and windsurfers, with hotels spread between the beach and the orchards behind it.
- Göltürkbükü and Gündoğan (45–48 km, about 45–58 min)
- The north coast: boutique hotels and beach clubs on wooden piers at Göltürkbükü, a calmer village bay at Gündoğan a little further west.
- Turgutreis and Gümüşlük (55–57 km, about 63–82 min)
- The western end of the peninsula, known for sunsets. Turgutreis is a lively town with a marina, Gümüşlük a small fishing bay with a car-free waterfront.
- Didim (84 km, about 75–94 min)
- On the mainland in Aydın province, north of the airport rather than on the peninsula. Home of Altınkum beach and the Temple of Apollo at Didyma.
How the roads work around Bodrum
From the airport the main road passes Güvercinlik and the turn for Torba before dropping into Bodrum. For the north coast, drivers leave the main road and cross the hills towards Gölköy, Türkbükü and Gündoğan. For Bitez, Ortakent, Turgutreis and Gümüşlük they continue around or through Bodrum and head west across the peninsula.
Didim is the exception. That route goes north via Milas and then along the D525 past Lake Bafa before turning west to the coast, so it never touches the peninsula.
In July and August the peninsula roads get busy, especially on Fridays and at weekends when holiday-home owners from Istanbul and Izmir arrive. The price you agree does not change if the drive takes longer.
Choosing a vehicle
- Private car
- Suits up to three passengers with normal suitcases. Comfortable for the short runs to Bodrum Town and Bitez.
- Minivan
- The usual choice for families and groups of up to about seven, or for anyone carrying a pushchair and several large cases.
- Larger vehicles
- Available on request for bigger groups, wedding parties and crews joining a gulet or yacht charter in Bodrum or Turgutreis.
Season and what travellers come for
Bodrum is a summer destination. Flights from Europe ramp up in May, peak from June to September and thin out after October, when many beach clubs and some hotels close. Visitors range from families on beach holidays and sailors joining charter boats to couples at the north-coast hotels and clubbers in Bodrum and Gümbet.
If you are joining a boat, mention the marina when booking. Diving gear, kitesurf or windsurf equipment and golf bags should also be declared at booking so the right vehicle is sent. Child seats can be requested for every route.
Frequently asked questions
How far is Milas-Bodrum Airport from Bodrum?
It is about 37 km by road to Bodrum Town, usually 38 to 48 minutes. The western resorts take up to around 80 minutes.
Is Didim served from Bodrum airport?
Yes. BJV is the usual airport for Didim, although the town is in Aydın province on the mainland. The drive of about 84 km goes north via Milas and Lake Bafa and takes roughly 75 to 94 minutes.
What happens if my flight to BJV is delayed?
Share your flight number when booking so the local provider can follow your arrival. The agreed price stays the same, and the driver adjusts to the actual landing time.
Can I book a transfer straight to a marina for a yacht charter?
Yes. Give the marina name and your boat details when booking, and say how much luggage you have. Larger vehicles can be arranged for whole crews.
Do transfers run outside the summer season?
Private transfers can be booked all year, but in winter fewer flights arrive and many resort hotels are closed. Check that your accommodation is open before travelling between November and April.
